Easy-Switch is the MX Keys flagship feature: 3 buttons (1/2/3) above the keyboard that instantly toggle between 3 paired devices. When it stops working, it's usually software: lost pairing, empty slot, or driver conflict. Rarely hardware.
Diagnostic
Test: hold 1, then 2, then 3 to see which blink (paired slot) vs stay off (empty slot). Empty slot? Re-pair. Slot blinks rapidly but doesn't connect = corrupted pairing — delete and re-create. No button responds = rarer case, 1/2/3 key mechanically broken.
Méthode
- 1
Hold the problematic button (1, 2 or 3) for 3 seconds until rapid blink.
- 2
On the target device, remove the old MX Keys pairing then re-pair via Bluetooth.
- 3
Check in Logi Options+ that all 3 slots are assigned to 3 different devices.
- 4
If a 1/2/3 button no longer responds mechanically, it's a regular modifier key to replace (€8).
FAQ
How many devices can MX Keys connect at once?
3 simultaneously (Easy-Switch slots 1, 2, 3). You can toggle between the 3 instantly, but type on one at a time. Total 3 devices via Bluetooth + up to 6 via Logi Bolt (separate slots).
Why does button 1 stay lit constantly?
Indicates slot 1 has an active connected pairing. If slot 1 blinks slowly = paired but not currently connected. Rapid blink = waiting for new pairing.
Does Easy-Switch work on MX Keys for Mac?
Yes, identical to PC version. You can mix (1=Mac, 2=PC, 3=iPad for example). The keyboard auto-detects the OS and adapts modifier layout (cmd vs Windows).
Easy-Switch broken = 95% of the time a re-pair to do (5 minutes). If the button itself doesn't respond, it's an €8 modifier key.
